Software Engineer - Java Experience (Onsite, Overland Park, KS)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based integration solutions connecting healthcare platforms, mobile applications, and data platforms.
• Build and enhance APIs, services, and data exchange workflows supporting Electronic Visit Verification and healthcare interoperability.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through deployment and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot integration, data, and application issues through debugging and root cause analysis.
• Develop and execute automated and manual tests, participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews, and join a rotational on-call schedule after training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with Java through professional work, internships, co-ops, research, coursework, or personal projects.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and software development fundamentals.
• Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL.
• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, data exchange concepts, and cloud-based or SaaS architectures.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, collaboration, and learning skills.

Nice to have

• Technical internship with a software company, healthcare organization, or technology-focused team.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, or similar development tools.
• Exposure to REST services, API development, integration platforms, or backend services.
• Interest in healthcare technology, interoperability, or connected software systems.
