AI Data Operations Manager

What you will do

• Manage a team of project managers to ensure programs hit on-time delivery and quality targets.
• Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and development of the project management pool to keep pace with demand.
• Implement quality interventions mid-program to catch and correct dips in performance.
• Standardize processes and contribute to software improvements based on program post-mortems.
• Manage escalations and cross-functional interfaces between Quality, Talent, and Delivery teams.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Boston, MA; New York, NY; or Washington D.C.
• 5+ years in AI/ML data operations or production, with 2+ years of direct people management experience.
• Strong understanding of LLM training processes (pre-training, SFT, RLHF) and evaluation methodologies.
• Proven track record of running teams against throughput, quality, and cost-per-task targets.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, dashboards, and SQL for performance analysis.
• Experience managing complex workflows using Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.

Nice to have

• Fluency in multiple human languages.
• Experience with multilingual data deliveries, especially in rare-resource languages.
• Familiarity with data annotation platforms like Label Studio or SuperAnnotate.
• Background in ML engineering, computer science, or data science.
