WGL – Senior Gas Transmission Engineer

Location: Springfield, Virginia, United States

Salary: $66,000–$130,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

What you will do

• Manage transmission and high-pressure, large-diameter distribution pipeline projects, including route analysis, design, permitting, easement acquisition, materials, specifications, bidding, construction support, restoration, and documentation.
• Manage project budgets and develop cost and schedule forecasts, annual capital budget justifications, and weekly MOS reports.
• Provide civil engineering design and engineering support across the Corporate Engineering and Gas Transportation units.
• Support operations, maintenance, special projects, and the development or update of O&M procedures and design and construction standards.
• Support or manage large-scale and complex transmission and distribution piping projects.
• Analyze complex loading scenarios and support civil and structural projects at WGL process facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or civil engineering.
• General knowledge of related engineering disciplines, applicable codes, and standards.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting.
• Engineer Level II: 1–2 years of relevant natural gas or related industry experience; EIT and PMP certifications are preferred.
• Engineer Level III or IV: 3+ or 5+ years of relevant experience, respectively, with required EIT, PMP, or GTI CGTP certification depending on level; PE certification is preferred.
