TL;DR
Law Contracts Advisor/ Senior Law Contracts Advisor (Contract Negotiation/Legal): Negotiating and managing commercial contracts for Marathon Petroleum and MPLX LP with an accent on risk allocation, contract compliance, and stakeholder support. Focus on drafting redlines, improving contracting processes, reducing contractual risk, and coordinating agreements across business functions.

Location: Denver, Colorado; additional locations include Findlay, Ohio; Houston, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas.

Salary: $80,800–$139,500 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

  • Negotiate high-quality commercial and contractual agreements that protect business interests and improve transaction efficiency.
  • Develop contract strategies, manage risk, prepare agreements, review claims, and support contract compliance and administration.
  • Interpret, draft, and negotiate contract language, including redlines and responses to external agreements.
  • Analyze non-standardized and third-party contracts, proposals, terms and conditions, and requirements for additional legal review.
  • Improve contracting processes through playbooks, templates, checklists, process re-engineering, and stronger process controls.
  • Coordinate negotiations and contracting activities with Business Development, Asset Development, Accounting, Land, Law, and other operating departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Education, experience, or training in law, compliance, contract management, or business management.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and develop, evaluate, and implement solutions with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize effectively, and complete work efficiently.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, collaboration, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.
