Instructor of Speech & Hearing Sciences/Director of Clinical Education (Speech-Language Pathology): Teaching didactic courses and supervising graduate clinical experiences while directing practica across internal and community settings with an accent on ASHA-aligned competency tracking, accreditation, and clinical program development. Location: Canyon, Texas, United States. Full-time, non-tenured faculty position beginning in January 2027. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

  • Teach 1–2 didactic courses per long semester and provide clinical supervision and instruction to first-year graduate students.
  • Direct clinical education and coordinate internal and external practica across community, state, and national settings.
  • Track student competencies, knowledge, skills, growth, and progress in alignment with ASHA standards.
  • Establish relationships with speech-language pathologists and arrange clinical placements, contracts, and affiliation agreements.
  • Develop and implement clinical practicum policies, orientations, simulations, and community-based learning initiatives.
  • Support accreditation, program assessment, departmental administration, recruitment initiatives, conferences, and related academic activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology, communication disorders, speech and hearing sciences, or a related field.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
  • Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation license in speech-language pathology, or ability to obtain TDLR licensure.
  • At least 2–3 years of clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist in any setting or with any population.
  • Experience using databases and related programs for contract management, student clinical assessment, documentation, EMR-based clinical service provision, and teaching.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; H-1B and other work authorization visa sponsorship is not offered.

Nice to have

  • Experience supervising or educating graduate students or clinical fellows in speech-language pathology.
  • Experience with program development, leadership, supervision, program assessment, strategic planning, contract negotiation, or conflict resolution.
  • Experience teaching professionals or students through courses, professional development events, in-services, or guest lectures.
  • Working knowledge of ASHA standards for training and education.
