Associate R&D Engineering Lab Technician (HVAC)

Location: Anoka, Minnesota, United States; on-site 5 days per week. The role requires 40 hours per week, with core hours from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Compensation: $20.38–$37.84 per hour.

What you will do

• Set up and conduct prototype, pre-production, and agency testing across enclosure, cooling, and high-density liquid cooling product areas.
• Partner with engineers to understand test intent, adapt test setups, and support evolving test plans and procedures.
• Build, modify, and operate test fixtures, lab equipment, and prototypes for product development and validation.
• Collect measurements and observations, then prepare clear technical reports with supporting data.
• Diagnose test setup, equipment, instrumentation, and product behavior issues using mechanical, electrical, and controls knowledge.
• Maintain lab organization and equipment calibration while contributing to continuous improvement, value engineering, and new product introduction activities.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent technical training in electrical, electronics, HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field, or at least two years of experience in an engineering, R&D, or test lab.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical proficiency with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve testing and product behavior issues.
• Ability to document and communicate test results using technical reports, data collection, and standard computer tools such as Microsoft Office.
• Experience using lab instrumentation and measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, pressure or force gauges, and voltmeters, plus data-logging or test-station software.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and stand or sit for extended testing periods.
• EPA 608 certification is required, or must be obtained within three months of starting; the company pays for the certification.
