Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded Linux)

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, verify, and test modular, high-performance embedded Linux software.
• Build scalable multithreaded applications in modern C++ with emphasis on maintainability, performance, reliability, and testability.
• Integrate software with hardware devices, sensors, networking components, FPGA systems, and real-time data-processing pipelines.
• Support system bring-up, debugging, performance optimization, field support, verification, validation, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Develop Python- and Bash-based tools for testing, deployment, data analysis, simulation, and engineering workflows.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, FPGA, algorithm, and test engineers; contribute to design reviews, code reviews, technical planning, documentation, and technical guidance for junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Five to seven years of software design and development experience, including work with complex embedded systems.
• Extensive experience with modern C++ multithreaded applications on embedded Linux and modular software architectures.
• Experience interfacing software with hardware devices, serial interfaces, Ethernet, and custom communication protocols.
• Proficiency in Python for automation, test development, data processing, and engineering utilities.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, aerospace, unmanned systems, robotics, RF systems, electronic warfare, SIGINT, guidance and navigation, or autonomous platforms.
• Experience with real-time Linux, POSIX threads, real-time scheduling, low-latency techniques, FPGA integration, device drivers, and board support packages.
• Knowledge of distributed architectures, publish-subscribe messaging, middleware, simulation environments, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Experience with containerized development, virtualization, automated test frameworks, deployment tools, profiling, and optimization.
• An active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
