Senior Embedded Linux / Platform Software Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

hirify.global builds the SmartMast maritime intelligence platform, combining HD video, AI, radar, RF sensing, and AIS for real-time maritime domain awareness.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the embedded Linux platform running on NVIDIA Jetson edge devices deployed on vessels.
• Integrate cameras, radar, SDR, AIS, GPS/GNSS, thermal, IMU, and weather sensors through reliable interfaces and middleware.
• Build ROS2-based services for inter-process and inter-sensor communication.
• Develop and optimize edge AI pipelines for detection, segmentation, and classification under compute and bandwidth constraints.
• Design edge-to-cloud data paths and manage OTA updates, staged rollouts, rollbacks, and fleet operations.
• Debug field telemetry and production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and coordinate deployment from laboratory systems to vessels.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience in robotics, electronics, or embedded systems.
• Over 4 years of professional experience with Python, C++, and shell scripting.
• Strong embedded Linux experience, especially Ubuntu, plus NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, and Yocto experience.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2, sensor and driver integration, networking, SSH/VNC, and remote debugging.
• Experience with industrial PTZ network cameras, video streaming, sensor fusion, and visual AI/ML models.
• Authorization to work in the United States and availability for on-site work in Arlington, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Rust experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and ingestion services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Maritime, defense, autonomy, or other mission-critical deployment experience.
• Deep expertise in PTZ lens and field-of-view tradeoffs, sensor convergence, stabilization, and their impact on ML accuracy.
