Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Define embedded software architectures and technical direction across multiple products and programs.
• Design, implement, test, debug, document, and deploy software for embedded devices and systems.
• Integrate and validate new product designs with hardware, electrical, systems, quality, and test engineering teams.
• Review code and system designs, analyze efficiency and scalability, and optimize I/O performance.
• Support software quality assurance, assess third-party and open-source software, and provide post-production and in-orbit customer support.
• Advise leadership, customers, and engineering organizations on embedded software engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• At least 8 years of industry experience in software development.
• Hands-on embedded hardware development and troubleshooting experience, including API design for FPGA interfaces.
• Extensive C programming experience and experience with an object-oriented language, preferably C++.
• Experience designing embedded systems with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems, plus knowledge of real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, hardware subsystems, multithreading, and resource management.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or otherwise eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience developing aerospace products.
• Experience with real-time Linux, ARM processors, fully featured microcontrollers, and software development kits.
• Ability to read electronics schematics and component data sheets.
