Prototyping Technician / Technicien(ne) en prototypage I (Mechanical Prototyping)

What you will do

• Fabricate and assemble mock-ups, prototypes, jigs, templates, and fixtures for product validation and improvement.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, basic CNC equipment, and other rapid prototyping equipment under supervision.
• Perform basic electrical and electronic assembly, including soldering, wire harness preparation, and simple circuit assembly.
• Read basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings; support basic CAD and technical drafting tasks.
• Document prototype iterations, materials, build steps, test observations, and design feedback.
• Support preventive maintenance, 5S organization, safety, quality, suppliers, and production tooling activities.

Requirements

• DEP, AEC, or first year of a CEGEP/college program in industrial design, mechanical engineering technology, mechanical design, drafting, electromechanical technology, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of practical experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Basic manual prototyping skills with hand tools and common shop equipment.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, soldering, simple circuit assembly, and wiring diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of plastics, composites, rapid prototyping technologies, and manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of standard engineering and technical drawing practices.
• Experience in a production or shop environment.
• Knowledge of military standards or personal protective equipment.
