Director of Engineering

Location: Office-based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States; travel between hirify.global facilities and occasional customer travel is required.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a multi-site engineering organization across mechanical, electrical, systems, software, and firmware disciplines.
• Oversee new product development, transition to production, and product lifecycle sustaining activities.
• Translate customer requirements into executable designs and guide teams in delivering system architecture roadmaps.
• Partner with Program Management, Product Management, the Technical Director, and Chief Engineer on project planning, resource allocation, and technical execution.
• Establish engineering processes, policies, templates, requirements traceability, configuration control, and design review practices.
• Drive on-time, on-budget execution, continuous improvement, and a culture of speed and accountability.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of progressive engineering experience, including several years in senior management or leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
• Experience building teams, managing managers, driving continuous improvement, and forecasting technical staffing needs.
• Deep understanding of electrical, software, mechanical, and/or industrial design sufficient to provide credible technical oversight.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
• Business acumen and the ability to lead through ambiguity, change, calculated risk, and a collaborative matrix environment.

Nice to have

• MBA or advanced engineering leadership education.
• Experience with Agile execution.
