Test Engineer/Operations Specialist

Location: San Diego, California, United States; some travel and at-sea operations may be required.

Salary: Estimated $80,000+ USD annually, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Assist with the development of systems for large unmanned surface vessels.
• Plan and execute testing of maritime unmanned vehicles and associated payloads.
• Support at-sea testing, operate mission systems, and operate and maintain small boats.
• Draft MOVEREPs, mission-planning materials, test documentation, and formal test plans.
• Maintain and update chart files for unmanned surface vessel operations.
• Maintain post-test documentation and prepare test analysis reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and hold or be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• At least 5 years of responsible at-sea operations experience, such as US Navy Officer of the Deck, Tactical Action Officer, CIC Watch Officer, Warfare Coordinator, or comparable maritime experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams during at-sea operations.
• Physical ability to operate from small boats and ships.
• A BA or BS is preferred; an AA or high school diploma may be considered for exceptionally experienced candidates.
• USCG maritime licensing as master, mate, or AB is a differentiating factor.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronic charting systems such as ECDIS.
• Experience testing maritime systems at sea.
• Experience developing and executing formal test plans.
• Military or research vessel community experience.
