Electronics Technician (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Support electronics development through simple PCB design, prototype assembly, component rework, and electronics testing.
• Build and organize test setups for electronics and electro-mechanical systems, including equipment monitoring and data collection.
• Perform mechanical CAD, 3D printing, product assembly, cable making, and other mechanical fabrication tasks.
• Source electronic components and maintain stock of essential laboratory supplies.
• Maintain laboratory organization, asset tracking, 5S practices, and health and safety processes.
• Collaborate with facilities, suppliers, contractors, and engineering colleagues on planning and risk management.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience with electronic components, circuit boards, wiring, soldering, tools, and test equipment.
• Experience with surface-mount assembly, including stencil pasting, manual pick-and-place, and reflow soldering.
• Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and create basic PCB schematics and layouts using CAD tools.
• Confident use of DMMs, oscilloscopes, and function generators, with strong verification and debugging skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, good laboratory practices, electronics test setups, and supplier or contractor coordination.
• Degree or relevant experience in engineering, electronics, or a related discipline, plus strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics, including MCUs, I2C, SPI, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, and filters.
• RF measurement experience and familiarity with spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and LCR meters.
• Experience with Altium, SolidWorks, 3D part design, FDM 3D printing, and design for manufacturing.
• Ability to write or understand C-style or Python scripts and use inventory management systems such as PartDB.
