Director, Strategic Communications

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada; the role is based in the Calgary office. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day execution of long-term communications assignments and special situations for clients across industries.
• Manage account projects by assigning responsibilities, anticipating needs, tracking activities, and supporting senior team members.
• Develop strategic communications plans, press releases, investor presentations, shareholder letters, talking points, and Q&As.
• Engage directly with clients and advisors on issues affecting financial, reputational, and business outcomes.
• Build and manage media relationships, respond to inbound inquiries, and act as a client spokesperson.
• Support new business development, expand client relationships, and mentor early-career colleagues.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in agency or client-side communications, finance, law, journalism, or a related field.
• Strategic and financial communications experience in a professional services or strategic communications advisory firm is strongly preferred.
• Outstanding writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and compelling messaging.
• Strong time management, organization, judgment, collaboration, and client-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, work calmly under pressure, and operate effectively in high-stakes situations.
• Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding academic record required; an advanced degree is an asset.
