Annual hiring pay range: $93,920–$117,400

What you will do

• Develop, design, and implement research projects focused on fungal biology and secondary metabolite production.
• Design and execute targeted and non-targeted LC-MS metabolomics experiments; isolate, analyze, and characterize natural products, including unknown compounds.
• Develop data analysis pipelines and perform statistical analysis and mining of large metabolomic datasets.
• Identify methodological problems, optimize research protocols, and evaluate new technologies, equipment, and collaborations.
• Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, fellowship applications, and grant contributions for diverse audiences.
• Mentor and train graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, Research Associates, and other laboratory staff in fungal biology, metabolomics, and specialized equipment.

Requirements

• PhD in chemical, biological, biomedical, or biochemical sciences, or an MD degree.
• More than five years of independent post-PhD research experience; at least four years required.
• Expertise in mass spectrometry, LC-MS metabolomics, and metabolomic data analysis.
• Experience extracting and analyzing secondary metabolites and characterizing unknown natural products.
• Strong scientific methods, critical analysis, communication, publication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across laboratories, and mentor trainees at different levels.

• Experience with fungal secondary metabolites and fungal biology.
