Director, Electrical Systems

Location: hirify.global HQ in North Sydney; the role is based in Sydney or Singapore and requires regular travel to other APAC regions.

A technology company operating a rapidly expanding platform of hyperscale data centres across the Asia Pacific and Middle East region.

What you will do

• Manage a team of specialist electrical engineers and lead solution implementation and issue resolution.
• Represent Technical Operations in the design, upgrade, vendor selection, commissioning, and testing of data centre infrastructure.
• Define product specifications, maintenance scopes, and operational standards for critical electrical infrastructure.
• Partner with site operations on event root-cause analysis, product failures, operational risks, and feedback to design and procurement teams.
• Develop electrical operations strategies for new APAC sites, accounting for local codes and evolving regulations.
• Provide technical expertise during operational incidents, escalations, and vendor performance reviews.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data centres or other mission-critical environments.
• Experience managing teams of specialist electrical engineers.
• Subject-matter expertise in electrical systems operations, including low-, medium-, and high-voltage installations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across development, design, procurement, and operations.
• Previous data centre operator or hyperscale experience in the APAC market is preferred.
• Willingness to travel regularly to other APAC regions.

• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to assess the commercial implications of engineering decisions.
• Experience with hyperscale data centre operations in the APAC market.
