Mechanical Commissioning Engineer (Data Centres)

Location: Based in Tasmania, Australia, with travel to project sites as required

What you will do

• Support commissioning activities throughout construction, testing, and handover phases.
• Participate in Factory Witness Tests, Factory Acceptance Tests, site inspections, and functional performance testing.
• Review commissioning plans, test procedures, technical submissions, and project documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and verification of mechanical system performance.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, facility operators, and client teams.
• Maintain commissioning records and reporting while supporting project planning, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• Experience in commissioning, construction, facilities engineering, or building services, including site-based projects.
• Exposure to HVAC, chilled water, hydronic, fire protection, hydraulic, or critical cooling systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain Australian Government Security Clearance are advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience with data centres, healthcare projects, or other critical environments.
• Exposure to factory testing, equipment inspections, commissioning activities, or building systems testing.
• Experience with CRAC systems, coolant distribution units, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, TAB, smoke control, pressurisation, fire protection, hydraulic services, or BMS.
