Aerospace Engineer II - Aircraft Certification (Aerospace): Certifying advanced aircraft, mission payloads, electronic systems, and space exploration systems with an accent on regulatory compliance, certification planning, and coordination with FAA and military authorities. Focus on managing certification activities, reviewing compliance documentation, navigating aircraft design challenges, and supporting design and flight-test programs.

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado; office or hybrid environment with up to 10% travel

Estimated starting salary: $94,345.12–$129,724.54 per year

What you will do

  • Interface with FAA, military, and other aircraft regulatory authorities.
  • Manage certification activities and coordinate military approvals.
  • Support aircraft and product design, development, analysis, and testing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in design and management reviews, including PDR and CDR presentations.
  • Review supporting technical documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide certification guidance to internal and external engineering departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, with typically 2 or more years of relevant experience; higher education may substitute for experience.
  • Basic understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Basic awareness of certification planning, certification basis, Methods of Compliance, and compliance artifacts.
  • Experience with military certification programs using MIL-HDBK-516 and/or FAA certification standards under 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, or 29.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for employment because of the security-clearance requirement.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry or project management.
  • Experience coordinating approvals with DoD certifying authorities, FAA Aircraft Certification Offices, ODA organizations, or DERs and unit members.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting technical documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with aircraft flight testing and engineering work outside a primary specialty.
