Senior Software Engineer, Ads Core & Commerce Ads - USDS (Machine Learning)

Location: Los Angeles R&D; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $177,688–$416,100 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Build scalable machine learning systems and advanced models for TikTok Shop Ads.
• Improve ad ranking quality and optimize advertiser marketing strategies through click-through rate and conversion rate prediction.
• Develop intelligent format selection and user journey optimization solutions.
• Explore and experiment with new features to improve model accuracy.
• Improve ads relevance, quality, and delivery using modern machine learning methods.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other disciplines on next-generation shopping experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with big data processing and storage frameworks such as Hadoop, Flink, Spark, Kafka, Hive, HBase, Redis, or RocksDB.
• Strong foundations in coding, algorithms, data structures, software design, and problem-solving.
• Clear critical thinking, concise solution formulation, effective communication, ownership, and drive.
• Ability to work fully in person in Los Angeles, with on-site presence up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in the ads domain.
• Strong programming expertise in C++ or Go, including debugging and performance optimization.
• Experience with large-scale advertising infrastructure or other high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong business and data intuition, project execution, abstraction, and innovation skills.
