Project Engineer I (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Sparks, Nevada, United States; primarily office-based or hybrid. Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. security clearance.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and revise project plans, schedules, and budgets throughout project execution.
• Coordinate engineering activities and lead cross-functional teams across projects ranging from short-term efforts to multi-year development programs.
• Support technical reviews, including PDR, CDR, TIMs, and weekly integrated product team reviews.
• Plan and enforce the formal release of technical documentation and program artifacts.
• Manage configuration-controlled technical data, including drawings, specifications, test plans, and test reports.
• Identify project risks, support mitigation planning, and maintain accurate project records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 8+ years of experience in engineering roles.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices, requirements management, system design, and integration.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary design and development teams, with strong leadership and delegation skills.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. security clearance.
• Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment, travel occasionally, and work in potentially hazardous project-site environments.

Nice to have

• 2–4 years of relevant leadership or project management experience.
• Experience with electronics assemblies and systems, project management software such as MS Project or JIRA, and technical proposals or project estimates.
• Experience leading complex baseline definition, trade studies, and alternatives analysis.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
• INCOSE experience or certification and an aerospace and defense industry background.
