TL;DR
Avionics & Electrical Systems Engineer (Aircraft Avionics and Electrical Systems): Developing repairs, modifications, maintenance specifications, and technical airworthiness solutions for Airbus and Embraer aircraft with an accent on regulatory compliance, systems safety, reliability, and operational communications. Focus on evaluating avionics technologies, obtaining approval for aircraft modifications, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and supporting AOG events at MRO locations and outstations.

Location: Cottonwood Heights, Utah, United States; on-site technical support at MRO locations and outstations is required. International travel is required, and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

What you will do

  • Develop repairs, alterations, installations, upgrades, maintenance specifications, and technical data for aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Review Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, modifications, and engineering documents for regulatory compliance, safety, reliability, applicability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare Engineering Orders, test plans, electrical load analyses, compliance reports, and customized maintenance procedures.
  • Obtain regulatory approval for aircraft avionics and electrical system repairs and modifications.
  • Coordinate with flight operations, operations control, maintenance teams, and business partners to resolve technical issues and manage voice, datalink, and Airline Operational Communications applications.
  • Provide technical support at MRO locations and outstations during aircraft-on-ground situations to return aircraft to service.

Requirements

  • Four-year engineering degree with an Avionics or Electrical Systems concentration.
  • 7+ years of experience modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of avionics architecture, Flight Management Systems, aeronautical datalink communications, ARINC-429, ARINC-717, and IP security.
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 21, 25, 91, and 121, including 2+ years in a Part 121 environment.
  • Experience with Airbus and Embraer aircraft avionics and systems, technical report writing, test plans, test results, electrical load analysis, and regulatory compliance reports.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States; must be able and willing to travel internationally and work weekends or holidays when required.

Nice to have

  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative status in Electrical Systems.
  • Satellite and communications technology knowledge.
  • Airframe and/or Powerplant License.
  • AutoCAD experience and Embraer or Airbus systems training.
