Street Light Technician (Electrical)

Location: Defined geographic service area with extensive daily travel; frequent outdoor and field work. Overnight travel may occasionally be required for customer demand or disaster-related power outage response.

What you will do

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and remove street lighting systems, fixtures, and electrical connections.
• Work on energized secondary voltage circuits up to 480 volts and near energized medium-voltage primary lines and equipment.
• Operate bucket trucks, climb wooden poles, use hot sticks, and work with hot-line tools and personal protective equipment.
• Drive and maintain a commercial motor vehicle, keeping it stocked with required tools and materials.
• Receive and close work orders, interpret maps and technical diagrams, and document customer and repair information using a vehicle-mounted laptop.
• Inspect equipment, identify repair or testing needs, and lead pre-job and post-job hazard analysis meetings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, work orders, blueprints, system maps, and diagrams.
• Ability to communicate information, instructions, and ideas in spoken and written English.
• Ability to use computers for work orders, maps, email, and documentation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb poles and elevated equipment, walk difficult terrain, and perform strenuous outdoor labor in changing weather conditions.

Nice to have

• Completed apprentice lineman program or lineman technical training.
• Experience performing electrical work.
• Experience working on or around medium-voltage primary electrical lines.
