Lighting Protection Technician

Location: Conroe/Houston, Texas, United States; travel throughout the Houston area and Texas, with occasional out-of-state travel.

What you will do

• Inspect existing lightning protection systems on commercial and industrial facilities.
• Install, repair, replace, and retrofit air terminals, conductors, bonding connections, grounding electrodes, connectors, fittings, and related components.
• Assist with system layout, conductor routing, drilling, anchoring, fastening, assembly, and installation based on project drawings and field conditions.
• Perform continuity testing, field measurements, visual inspections, and other verification activities.
• Work with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, customers, contractors, and other field personnel while documenting site conditions and project information.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, materials, and company vehicles while following site-specific safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with common hand and power tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot, assemble, install, and repair equipment in the field.
• Comfort working outdoors, in construction and industrial environments, on rooftops, near roof edges, at heights, and while lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license, ability to travel to project sites, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR export-control requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in lightning protection, electrical work, roofing, construction, maintenance, installation, or related skilled trades.
• Familiarity with NFPA 780, UL 96A, and UL 96 lightning protection standards and components.
• Experience reading construction drawings and roof plans, performing electrical testing, concrete drilling, anchoring, roofing, flashing, welding, or fabrication.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
