TL;DR
Automation Engineer / Specialist (Industrial Automation/PLC): Designing, programming, commissioning, and supporting monitoring and control systems for liquids pipelines, measurement facilities, pump stations, tank farms, and transfer facilities with an accent on Allen Bradley PLC platforms, HMI systems, industrial networks, and hazardous-area applications. Focus on integrating facility changes, troubleshooting legacy control systems, managing automation capital projects, and providing on-call operational support.
Location: Hybrid role based in an established office in Doraville, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; or Houston, Texas. Office work is required Monday through Wednesday, with work from home Thursday and Friday. Travel to sites is required 20%–50%, with occasional weekend travel.

What you will do
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support PLC-based automation and PC-based HMI systems.
- Design automation networks and configure communication protocols, media, gateways, and related hardware.
- Integrate facility and design changes with local control centers in collaboration with project managers and operations personnel.
- Provide technical expertise for instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, automation specifications, standards, and equipment procurement.
- Support system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and on-site technical services.
- Develop and manage automation capital projects, including scope, schedules, budgets, contractors, risk, quality, and 24/7 operational support.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineering technology, preferably Electrical Engineering; five years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
- At least five years of instrumentation and control engineering, systems integration, or related experience focused on complex industrial control systems.
- Working experience with Allen Bradley PLC-5, SLC-500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, and RSView32.
- Experience with Prosoft, Moxa, and Red Lion protocol gateways; DH+ network troubleshooting; TCP/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, and Serial Modbus.
- Knowledge of liquid-pipeline hydraulics, electrical and mechanical drawings, P&IDs, hazardous-area applications, and standards including UL508A, NEC, API 500, and API 1165.
- Project coordination, commissioning, troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills; valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors and travel to sites.
