Underwriter Property Facultative

Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Analyze and assess the technical insurability of new and renewal commercial and industrial property risks.
• Structure, price, and present tailored facultative reinsurance proposals.
• Maintain portfolio quality and apply consistent underwriting practices.
• Develop property, industry, and peril expertise across Japanese and international markets.
• Originate new business, build pipelines, and identify growth opportunities.
• Represent hirify.global in client and broker meetings and collaborate with colleagues in Japan and globally.

Requirements

• Experience underwriting commercial and industrial property risks in insurance and/or facultative reinsurance.
• Strong knowledge of manmade and natural catastrophe risks, mitigation measures, and exposure assessment methods.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency.
• Experience assessing and pricing complex risks.
• Strong negotiation, communication, client relationship, and business development skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural, international teams.
