Payroll Specialist (Electric Utilities)

Location: Remote from Charlotte, North Carolina, or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

What you will do

• Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
• Prepare tax filings and payroll reports, including W-2s and 1099s.
• Maintain employee payroll records, timesheets, benefits, direct deposits, and tax withholdings.
• Audit and reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and respond to employee questions.
• Operate payroll systems, coordinate with IT and vendors, and protect confidential payroll information.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
• Familiarity with payroll software such as SAGE.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of payroll systems, procedures, tax regulations, and labor laws.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
