Software Engineer, Data Runtime (AI)

What you will do

• Design and build the data execution systems that run hirify.global queries at large scale.
• Contribute to distributed-systems projects from prototype through global rollout.
• Develop elastic query compute, distributed file caching, columnar storage internals, and compaction systems.
• Partner with Query Serving, Streaming, Data Foundation, Core Analysis, and AI-powered product teams on shared architecture.
• Own projects and significant components end to end, including production operations.
• Improve the performance, cost efficiency, and reliability of the compute layer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating data infrastructure or backend systems.
• Experience with distributed systems or data infrastructure and with owning projects from design through production.
• Strong technical communication, including design documents, code reviews, and asynchronous collaboration.
• Sound judgment in technical tradeoffs, high ownership, and accountability.
• Experience with languages such as Go, C, C++, Python, and SQL, plus cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Experience with sharding, replication, distributed scheduling, consistent hashing, and work fanout/merge.
• Knowledge of Arrow, Parquet, indexing, compression, distributed caches, tiered storage, and query engines.
• Performance engineering experience with profiling, concurrency, memory management, and benchmarking.
• Experience with GCP services such as GCS, GKE, and Spanner or equivalent AWS/Azure services.
• Experience with observability, SLOs, incident management, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
