Engineering Technician III (Optics)

Location: Niwot, Colorado, United States; 100% in-office

Salary: $30–$43 per hour, depending on experience.

hirify.global develops and manufactures micro-contamination monitoring equipment, including light-scattering particle counters, for the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries.

What you will do

• Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify prototype, developmental, and production electronic and optical systems.
• Perform optical, laser, electrical, mechanical, and optoelectronic assembly, alignment, calibration, and verification testing.
• Conduct board-level electronics repair, surface-mount component replacement, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.
• Support sustaining engineering, new product commercialization, and cross-functional R&D projects.
• Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, develop manufacturing and test procedures, and train team members.
• Apply Lean principles and structured problem-solving methods to improve performance, reliability, quality, manufacturability, cost, and safety.

Requirements

• Associate degree in electronics or optics technology with 10+ years of experience, equivalent experience, or relevant military training; an advanced degree may compensate for two years of experience.
• Experience troubleshooting electronics and performing surface-mount rework.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, laser power meters, flow meters, and similar troubleshooting equipment.
• Strong knowledge of lasers, optical alignment, optoelectronics, and safe laser-system operation.
• Ability to gather and analyze data, write reports, create technical documents, solve problems, and learn new technical information.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, plus familiarity with SolidWorks and 3D-printing technology.
