Instrumentation Development Engineer (Optical Spectroscopy)

What you will do

• Design, set up, troubleshoot, and improve measurement systems, with a focus on optical spectroscopy equipment.
• Collect and document system requirements and specify appropriate hardware for new projects.
• Write technical documentation explaining measurement system operation to end users.
• Create calibration procedures for custom systems and commercial instruments.
• Support technicians during manufacturing downtime and help resolve measurement-system issues.
• Prototype new systems and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and research and development teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, optical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 1 year of engineering experience.
• Understanding of engineering principles, product lifecycle, and design software.
• Basic or better understanding of optics and light, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Experience with measurement system analysis or design of experiments.
• Knowledge of color science, color measurement, optical spectroscopy, or metrology.
• Hands-on prototyping experience and basic knowledge of electronics and mechanical concepts.
• Exposure to laboratory or manufacturing environments.
• Programming experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, C#, or another language.
