Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on diesel, gasoline, electrical, and other heavy equipment, including compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders.
• Inspect equipment condition, operation, fluid levels, tires, and safety equipment, and identify mechanical problems.
• Check, fill, and change engine, transmission, differential, final-drive, pump-drive, and hub fluids; grease, oil, and lubricate components.
• Maintain cooling systems and replace air, oil, coolant, and fuel filters.
• Power wash equipment, adjust vehicle systems, and drive equipment in and out of the repair area.
• Complete work orders, parts and time records, daily consumables reports, and fleet-management system entries while following safety procedures.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a technician position.
• Knowledge and application of OSHA Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Fire Protection regulations.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and word-processing applications.
• Ability to complete the Republic PM Program, One Fleet Republic Way program, and other applicable training during employment.
