Application Software Developer/Engineer (Azure)

What you will do

• Develop, customize, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot web applications supporting scientific research data.
• Design and enhance modern web applications, REST APIs, and GraphQL services.
• Support application modernization, technology refresh, and migration initiatives to Microsoft Azure.
• Analyze, mitigate, and document security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Manage testing, software updates, production releases, technical documentation, code reviews, and version control.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, project coordinators, government stakeholders, and technical teams to define application requirements and migration strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of professional experience developing enterprise web applications and 3–4 years working with open-source software and development tools.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks, preferably Angular, Python, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Entity Framework, GraphQL, RESTful API design, Linux, HTML, XHTML, and CSS.
• Experience migrating applications to Microsoft Azure and an Azure certification or ability to obtain one.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Docker, relational databases, legacy application modernization, and technology refresh initiatives.
• Knowledge of USWDS, the USDA Digital Strategy Playbook, accessibility requirements, user-centered design, and Section 508/WCAG 2.x AA standards.
