Software Engineer - Payment Compliance (AI)

Location: Seattle R&D — Backend; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $100,320–$177,840 annually, with potential additional bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize core payment compliance systems for KYC, AML, sanctions screening, case management, review workflows, review tools, configuration platforms, and quality-control systems.
• Build highly available, scalable, and maintainable backend services for payment risk and compliance scenarios.
• Develop intelligent and AI-assisted compliance review capabilities using LLMs, AI agents, RAG, knowledge bases, and workflow orchestration.
• Collaborate with product managers, compliance policy, operations, algorithm, and engineering teams.
• Improve system stability, performance, observability, monitoring, alerting, automated testing, and incident remediation.
• Convert complex compliance workflows, business rules, SOPs, and operational expertise into reusable and configurable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one mainstream programming language, such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
• Backend engineering experience with distributed systems, microservices, databases, caches, and message queues.
• Strong coding, debugging, system design, problem-solving, ownership, and engineering quality skills.
• Ability to independently design, develop, and deliver modules in complex business scenarios.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in global, multicultural, and cross-region environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, compliance, risk control, AML, KYC, sanctions screening, anti-fraud, or case management systems.
• Experience with or strong interest in LLMs, AI agents, RAG, prompt engineering, knowledge bases, workflow automation, or intelligent decision systems.
• Experience building workflow engines, rule engines, configuration platforms, review systems, or operational efficiency tools.
• Experience designing and optimizing highly available, high-performance, large-scale distributed systems.
