Senior Software Engineer - PaCI Foundation and Platform AI - USDS (AI)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$359,720 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

USDS Joint Venture operates data privacy, cybersecurity, trust and safety, and content integrity programs for TikTok's U.S. platform ecosystem.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain high-throughput, low-latency decision engines, data platforms, and horizontal ML/AI architectures.
• Write production-ready backend code in Go, C/C++, or Python for globally scaled risk defense algorithms.
• Build infrastructure and tools for deploying and serving risk algorithms and machine learning models.
• Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Design automated testing frameworks, regression suites, and stress-testing tools for distributed systems and LLM behaviors.
• Maintain risk control solutions with strong data security, privacy, modularization, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Go, C/C++, Java, or Python.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to decompose complex and ambiguous problems into technical solutions.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, multi-regional environments.
• Ability to work fully in person in San Jose up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency infrastructure such as feature stores, model serving, or AI infrastructure.
• Background in risk, anti-fraud, AI safety, or trust and safety.
