Engineering Tech Lead, Data Platform – USDS (AI/Data Platform)

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $198,360–$416,100 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Define the long-term roadmap and architecture for AI-driven internal products.
• Design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient conversational RAG systems and autonomous diagnostic engines.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks and build self-service data platforms for Legal, Finance, HR, and other business units.
• Modernize release governance by integrating intelligent automation into the Meego pipeline.
• Lead the platformization of AI pilots into enterprise standards for A/B testing and resource allocation.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, design documentation, and resilience while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience and a record of leading large-scale projects from 0-to-1 through maturity.
• Experience as a Technical Lead for a mid-to-large-sized team, including architectural oversight and cross-team influence.
• Expertise in backend systems using Go, Python, Java, or C++.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and data infrastructure.
• Ability to work in person in Seattle, up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building and scaling LLM-based agents, complex RAG architectures, and human-in-the-loop systems.
• Experience creating enterprise-scale internal productivity ecosystems, automated SQL engines, intelligent on-call bots, or large-scale A/B testing platforms.
• Experience working within complex compliance and security environments.
• Ability to communicate AI and infrastructure roadmaps to executive leadership and government relations stakeholders.
