Principal Scientist, R&D Data, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence - Immunology

Location: Onsite at one of the U.S. campuses in Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA; San Diego/La Jolla, CA; Titusville, NJ; or Raritan, NJ. No fully remote option. Travel for cross-functional workshops, design sessions, and team meetings may be required.

Base pay: $117,000–$201,250 annually, plus potential annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Shape Immunology R&D data science, digital health, AI, and analytics strategies across projects and portfolio initiatives.
• Design data science use cases and roadmaps from pilot to scale with Therapeutic Area, platform, engineering, and analytics teams.
• Align imaging, clinical, biomarker, digital health, and real-world data assets with scientific use cases and appropriate technologies.
• Analyze scientific and operational workflows to identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and future-state solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including generative AI, agentic workflows, workflow automation, and advanced analytics.
• Present analyses and recommendations to technical and leadership forums to support R&D decision making.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, biotechnology, healthcare, data science, digital health, AI, analytics, or a related field.
• Experience translating scientific or business needs into practical data, analytics, digital health, or AI-enabled solutions.
• Experience assessing and applying emerging AI technologies, including generative AI and agentic systems.
• Ability to work in cross-functional, matrixed environments with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with healthcare, clinical, imaging, digital health, biomarker, or real-world data.

Nice to have

• PhD or another advanced degree.
• Immunology or therapeutic-area R&D experience.
• Experience with Python, R, SQL, cloud platforms, data platforms, machine learning, workflow automation, or digital health solutions.
