Software Engineer 2 (AI/Cybersecurity)

Location: On-site in Laurel, Maryland, United States. United States citizenship and a position-appropriate security clearance are required, including active TS/SCI with an agency-appropriate polygraph.

Salary: $64.04–$120.27 per hour.

What you will do

• Build and prototype software that improves the speed and efficiency of defensive cyber operations.
• Work directly with mission operators to identify workflow challenges and design technical solutions.
• Use large language models and corporate AI resources to accelerate software development and scale data analytics.
• Develop analytical tools for vulnerability analysis, incident response, adversary emulation, and COMSEC monitoring.
• Support workflows involving vulnerability patching, incident response, and threat emulation.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph.
• United States citizenship is required.
• Master’s degree and 3 years, bachelor’s degree and 5 years, associate’s degree and 7 years, or high school diploma/GED and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Relevant experience in software development processes, including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment, maintenance, and programming.
• Strong software engineering foundations and advanced Python proficiency for application development, scripting, and data manipulation.
• Understanding of foundational cybersecurity concepts, defensive operations, or threat landscapes.

Nice to have

• Formal or informal leadership experience.
• Experience developing AI solutions and using LLMs in production.
• Background in data engineering, data science, or advanced analytics.
• Experience with Splunk development, dashboards, or data ingestion pipelines.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Rancher, or Apache Airflow.
