Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The role is primarily based in production and operational areas and may require extended hours and local or international travel.

What you will do

• Design, validate, release, and sustain manufacturing processes for capital equipment assemblies and subsystems.
• Lead NPI transitions, DFM/DFA reviews, tooling readiness, pilot builds, capability studies, and high-volume production ramp-up.
• Develop process documentation, including routings, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, test protocols, and acceptance criteria.
• Troubleshoot production and product issues, lead 8D, DMAIC, 5-Why, and Fishbone investigations, and drive CAPA closure.
• Coordinate fixtures, tooling, test systems, automation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment operating procedures.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives involving line balancing, SMED, WIP, OEE, 5S, visual controls, and process digitalization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in capital equipment or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience with PFMEA, control plans, work instructions, process validation, fixtures, tooling, measurement systems, and industrial safety.
• Experience with DFM/DFA, mechanical and electrical drawings, Lean methods, and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Proficiency in English communication, with the ability to work on the shop floor, train technical staff, and collaborate cross-functionally.

Nice to have

• Experience with PLM and MRP systems, including Agile and Oracle Work Definitions.
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, CAD, and electrical or mechanical test instrumentation.
