In-House Life Insurance and Life Claims Regulatory Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid role in Bloomington, Illinois, with required time in the office and virtually. Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.

Potential starting salary: $137,000–$215,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 30% of base salary.

What you will do

• Provide legal advice and services to hirify.global companies on life insurance and financial services products.
• Advise on insurance claims and regulatory and operational matters involving life, health, disability income, long-term care, and annuity products.
• Advise on broker-dealer law and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 when relevant to background and experience.
• Analyze legal issues, interpret laws and regulations, and provide preventative legal guidance.
• Supervise related litigation and represent the organization before governmental agencies on regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and serve as an established resource on complex legal issues.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school with outstanding academic credentials.
• Active license to practice law in at least one state, membership in good standing, and ability to gain admission by reciprocity as Corporate Counsel in Illinois.
• 10+ years of in-house insurance experience advising life insurance companies, broker-dealers, or investment advisers, preferably with life and health insurance claims counseling experience.
• Proactive, preventative lawyering mindset and commitment to providing high-quality legal advice.
• Ability to learn new subject areas and collaborate with diverse stakeholders on complex issues.
• Immediate U.S. work eligibility is required; hirify.global will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.
