Field Application Engineer (Optical Modules)

What you will do

• Provide pre-sales technical support, product demonstrations, application assessments, and feasibility prototypes.
• Work with sales, product line management, product development, R&D, and customers to collect requirements and drive design-ins.
• Negotiate technical specifications and performance trade-offs for optical modules and customer systems.
• Participate in customer design reviews and prepare technical responses to RFIs and RFQs.
• Bring up transceiver modules at customer sites, troubleshoot prototypes, and develop solutions for end-user applications.
• Manage customer documentation, Product Change Notifications, failure analysis, corrective actions, and lessons-learned activities.

Requirements

• Degree in physical sciences, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 3 years of engineering experience designing, developing, or testing coherent optical modules and components, including DSPs, receivers, modulators, or lasers.
• Direct experience with product development and NPI processes at an optical components/modules company or system OEM.
• Practical knowledge of transceiver hardware, including firmware and hardware interface specifications and testing.
• Familiarity with CMIS, C-CMIS, Ethernet, InfiniBand, switch/router platforms, and ONTs, including Arista, Cisco, and Nvidia.
• English is required, with an emphasis on written communication; domestic and international travel is required.

• Familiarity with device firmware structure and functionality.
• Experience using Python.
