Digital Content Producer

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; onsite

Compensation: $24.00+ per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

What you will do

• Discover, assign, write, edit, and publish local news stories, photos, and videos for fox40.com, FOX40 social media channels, and CTV apps.
• Respond quickly to breaking news, viewer calls, emails, phone calls, beat calls, police scanners, emergency scanners, and other news sources.
• Monitor and publish content across multiple social media networks and digital platforms using company standards.
• Coordinate and dispatch reporters and photographers to execute news coverage.
• Contact public information officers, conduct beat calls, gather information, and develop potential story ideas.
• Work all shifts, including nights and weekends, in a deadline-driven newsroom.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is desired.
• Three years of experience in a working newsroom as a producer, reporter, or assignment editor.
• Daily newspaper or news-site experience, working knowledge of social media and digital platforms, and proficiency in Associated Press style.
• Exceptional writing, proofreading, copy editing, communication, and news judgment skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, multitask, stay self-motivated, and perform effectively under deadline pressure.
• Strong people and leadership skills for collaborating across the newsroom and station.

• Live web samples and/or print pages.
• Strong understanding of SEO and its use in improving website traffic.
