Senior Controls Engineer – Robotics & Automation

Location: Full-time, on-site at hirify.global HQ in Sunnyvale, California; this position is not remote.

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 base salary, depending on experience. Additional compensation includes stock options.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain motion planning algorithms for trajectory generation, collision avoidance, and path planning.
• Design, implement, and tune control algorithms for robotic and vehicle systems, including PID, MPC, LQR, and trajectory tracking controllers.
• Implement state estimation methods such as Kalman Filters and Extended Kalman Filters.
• Integrate planning and control modules with perception, localization, and systems teams.
• Analyze logs and telemetry, develop validation tools, and improve system performance.
• Integrate robots, debug hardware and software, and conduct real-world field testing.

Requirements

• PhD or M.S. in Controls, Robotics, Optimization, Path Planning, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a B.S. with strong industry experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of full-time industry experience in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, aerospace, or related engineering fields.
• Experience developing control systems for robotic or autonomous platforms, with a strong understanding of control theory, dynamic systems, and vehicle or robot dynamics.
• Programming experience in C++, Python, and Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, logging and instrumentation tools, Git, and collaborative software development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with robot hardware, sensors, embedded systems, integration, and testing.
