Control System Engineer (MATLAB/Simulink)

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; onsite. Travel up to 10% annually.

Salary: $122,500–$168,400 annually; bonus eligible.

What you will do

• Architect positioning and control systems with domain experts and project teams, and establish achievable requirements.
• Design, develop, optimize, and productize control-law algorithms, including feedback/feedforward compensation, signal conditioning, filtering, and state estimation, using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Develop and validate nonlinear vehicle-dynamics plant models for off-highway industrial machinery.
• Define robust system and software architectures and create clean, maintainable code and models.
• Validate algorithms through simulation, including SIL and HIL, and physical on-machine testing.
• Create control-requirement-based test cases and maintain data-processing tools for development, analysis, and deployment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing control algorithms for dynamic systems.
• Strong foundation in classical and modern control theory and extensive MATLAB/Simulink development experience.
• Hands-on experience with automatic control of off-highway industrial machinery.
• Experience testing, verifying, validating, and productizing algorithms, including plant simulation tools.
• Experience with data acquisition, processing, and analytics for testing and validation of control systems.
• Familiarity with requirements decomposition and management tools.
• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, GNC, or a related engineering field is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 10% annually.

Nice to have

• Expertise in Kalman filters, GNSS+IMU state estimation, and sensor fusion for pose estimation.
• Experience with hydraulic and electro-hydraulic actuation systems.
• GNC experience with autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles, aerospace, marine, or defense systems.
• Experience with systems identification, Simscape, Simulink auto-code generation, and HIL/SIL testing.
• C/C++ software development skills and familiarity with ROS.
• Experience in safety-critical software development and certification processes.
• Experience evaluating and incorporating AI methodologies and tools into control-system engineering and product design.
• Experience leading small technical projects.
