Associate Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States; entry-level openings are also available in Rockville, MD, Fairfax, VA, and Blacksburg, VA, with consideration for other United States offices.

Salary: $65,000–$90,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Perform life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering under the direction of a P.E. or experienced consultant.
• Develop accurate plans, specifications, inspection reports, and other project documentation.
• Conduct field investigations, inspections, design checks, and coordination of assigned project elements.
• Analyze building codes, egress, fire detection and alarm, smoke control, sprinkler, and water supply systems.
• Perform engineering calculations for egress, building area, sprinkler water supplies, and smoke control equipment.
• Report progress to Project Managers and Project Leaders and prepare CADD documents when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Effective written and oral communication skills for reports, presentations, correspondence, and responses to clients and the public.
• Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, professional publications, governmental regulations, and business materials.
• Passion for advancing the science of safety and exceeding client expectations.
• Ability to work from a hirify.global office in the United States.
