Software Engineer I (AI)

Location: Oakland, California, United States; hybrid schedule with in-office work on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work-from-home options on Tuesday and Friday.

Base salary: $140,000 per year, plus equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Build product features end-to-end, from architectural design through implementation and deployment.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Developer Operations to design, build, and launch functionality.
• Debug complex issues and improve the reliability of a large-scale software platform.
• Contribute to system documentation and knowledge-sharing practices.
• Work with an onboarding mentor to learn the platform architecture, development practices, and product domains.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent coursework.
• Experience coding in a compiled language such as C++ or Java and a scripting language such as Python or JavaScript.
• Strong foundational knowledge of computer science concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience building and delivering software through coursework, personal projects, or internships.
• Strong strategic thinking and a collaborative approach to complex technical problems.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Linux operating systems and environments.
• Hands-on experience with Git or a similar version control system.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Campus leadership experience or participation in a technical research program.
