Entry-Level AI Software Engineer

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; hybrid workplace. U.S. citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually

What you will do

• Support the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and AI-enabled solutions.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data-driven applications under the mentorship of senior engineers and AI practitioners.
• Participate in AI and machine learning solution development, integration, testing, and documentation.
• Work with cloud platforms and modern software development tools to support application delivery.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies, code reviews, secure coding, version control, testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Troubleshoot software defects and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and engineering artifacts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated interest in AI, software engineering, data engineering, or emerging technologies through coursework, projects, research, or personal initiatives.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Internship, research, co-op, hackathon, or capstone experience in software development, AI, machine learning, or data engineering.
• Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Git, APIs, databases, data processing, or cloud-native architectures.
• Exposure to Generative AI, large language models, AI/ML libraries, data analytics, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, or automation.
• Active Security Clearance.
