AI Engineering Lead

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia

Salary: EUR 3,200–5,300 per month for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation and location-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor engineers while fostering quality, ownership, continuous learning, and knowledge-sharing.
• Provide technical leadership for AI-enabled software solutions and platforms supporting the reinsurance business.
• Design and guide implementation of scalable, reliable, production-grade systems, services, integrations, APIs, and workflows.
• Establish standards for testing, deployment, monitoring, quality assurance, and operational excellence.
• Support evaluation frameworks and quality controls for AI-powered systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and engineers to prioritize solutions and deliver measurable business value.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating production-grade software systems.
• Strong software engineering background with Python, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, or similar technologies.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, engineering best practices, testing strategies, CI/CD, distributed systems, cloud environments, and modern software platforms.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and making technical decisions in complex environments.
• Ability to connect business objectives with technical implementation and interest in applying AI and agentic technologies to business problems.

Nice to have

• Experience leading software, platform, AI, or data engineering teams.
• Experience building AI-enabled applications and agentic workflows, including LLM application patterns, RAG, tool calling, or evaluation frameworks.
• Experience with Azure AI, MLOps, model lifecycle practices, or Palantir Foundry/AIP.
• Insurance, reinsurance, or financial services experience.
