Senior Staff Systems Engineer (Air Traffic Management)

Location: East Syracuse, New York, United States. The role supports ATM projects for airports in Australia and includes international travel of up to 10%.

Salary: $132,000–$171,600 per year.

What you will do

• Translate customer, safety, and security requirements into system architectures, hardware requirements, and software requirements.
• Perform design analyses and trade studies while leading small interdisciplinary engineering teams.
• Create architecture documents, technical materials, and presentations for design reviews.
• Lead technical and programmatic discussions with customers, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
• Integrate, configure, test, tune, and commission systems in factory and deployed environments.
• Analyze large datasets to measure system performance, investigate anomalies, support proposals, and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or computer science, or relevant military education and training.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience.
• Programming experience in a high-level language such as Matlab, C, C++, or Java.
• Experience with technical project planning, including cost and schedule estimates.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of air traffic surveillance and control systems, international ATC terminology, standards, and procedures.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with IP networks and firewalls.
