TL;DR
Associate Chemist - Environment Testing - 2nd Shift, Tues-Sat (Analytical Chemistry): Preparing environmental samples and standards and performing routine and non-routine instrumental analyses using gas chromatography, with an accent on laboratory accuracy, SOP compliance, and data quality. Focus on operating GC/FID, GC/TCD, purge-and-trap GC, and GC/ELCD instruments, maintaining equipment, evaluating LIMS data, and documenting results.

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite laboratory position. Regular schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM; training is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Compensation: $18–$20.90 per hour, with a 10% shift differential noted separately.

What you will do

  • Prepare reagents, samples, and standards for routine and non-routine environmental analyses.
  • Operate GC/FID, GC/TCD, purge-and-trap GC, and GC/ELCD instrumentation independently or with mentor guidance.
  • Analyze QC and client samples for TPH, DRO, alcohols, light gases, and related compounds.
  • Perform dilutions, calculations, instrument calibration, routine maintenance, and laboratory operations.
  • Document testing, observations, deviations, sample preparation, maintenance, and results in compliance with SOP, regulatory, and client requirements.
  • Evaluate data, generate reports, track samples in LIMS, identify problems, and escalate issues affecting results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory techniques, calculations, documentation, and SOPs.
  • Strong computer, scientific, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, learn new techniques, manage multiple tasks, and maintain accurate records.

  • BS in Chemistry.
