Staff Perception Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Full-time, on-site at the Sunnyvale, California headquarters; no relocation provided.

Base salary: $240,000–$275,000 per year, depending on experience. Equity through stock options.

What you will do

• Own the full perception stack for autonomous security robots, from raw multimodal sensor data through 3D detection, scene understanding, and persistent tracking.
• Design, train, optimize, and deploy 3D perception models for LiDAR, camera, thermal, and radar data using BEV and transformer-based architectures.
• Build end-to-end data, annotation, training, and real-time onboard deployment pipelines with TensorRT and CUDA optimization.
• Develop persistent cross-sensor identity tracking for people, vehicles, and license plates across camera handoffs, patrols, and time.
• Implement evidence-first capture with pre- and post-event clips, full-frame and cropped media, and structured detection outputs.
• Lead architecture, data strategy, roadmap decisions, evaluations, and technical mentoring across robotics, ML, and systems engineering.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience shipping production perception software at an OEM, autonomous vehicle company, physical security platform, or robotics technology company.
• Deep expertise in 3D computer vision, including LiDAR and camera-based 3D detection, point clouds, multiview geometry, and sensor fusion.
• Strong ML fundamentals with CNNs, transformers, and multitask architectures, plus production deployment using TensorRT, ONNX, and CUDA optimization.
• Fluency in C++ and Python, with experience in ROS2 and simulation environments such as CARLA or Isaac.
• Ability to take models from research to deployed systems operating under real-world constraints.
• Ability to work full-time on-site at the Sunnyvale headquarters; relocation is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with vision-language models, vision-language-action models, or end-to-end policy models.
• Experience with ALPR, face recognition, or re-identification systems in security or automotive deployments.
• Familiarity with evidence integrity, chain-of-custody media, or tamper-evident capture pipelines.
• Publications or open-source contributions in 3D computer vision, embodied AI, or autonomous systems.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
