Buyer - Contract Manufacturing

Location: Onsite in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, Malaysia; international travel required 15–20%.

What you will do

• Manage the full procurement cycle for vendor-sale and consignment parts, from purchase order issuance through receipt and shipment.
• Maintain consignment stock, monitor consumption, replenish materials, and coordinate inventory reconciliation with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
• Optimize delivery batches and schedules against monthly production plans, balancing cost, storage capacity, and demand changes.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance across delivery, quality, responsiveness, lead times, and replenishment models.
• Manage spares inventory and collaborate with planning, engineering, logistics, and contract manufacturing partners on material risks, part transitions, inbound shipments, and customs documentation.
• Prepare reports and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, efficiency, operational risk, and data accuracy.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of consignment management, vendor-sale models, and inventory control.
• Experience optimizing delivery batches and working with contract manufacturers.
• Negotiation, communication, supplier management, analytical, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Dynamics.
